1998 David Charbonneau Print

$ 7.95

Richard Nadeau’s eighth consecutive painting for the cover of the Central Adirondack Guide depicted David Charbonneau (1861–1933), who was a pioneer resident and guide in the Old Forge, New York, area. He built the fourth house in the village, which today is home to Burkhard-Evans, Inc., a real estate and insurance firm.
     Charbonneau traveled to the area from nearby Boonville along the Moose River, bringing the lumber by horse-drawn wagon to build the Wood Hotel in Inlet, a structure which still stands.
     He was a much sought-after Adirondack Guide. Among others, he guided U.S. Senator Frelinghuysen from New Jersey, and for President Warren G. Harding. ©2014 R.P. Nadeau. All rights reserved.
